Wrinkle Relaxants (Neuromodulators)
Skinspirations provides Botox®, Dysport™, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify® treatments to smooth out lines caused by muscle movement. These medications are officially known as neuromodulators. Besides smoothing wrinkles, they can lift the brows, jawline, and drooping mouth corners. Frown lines, forehead and lip lines, neck creases, and crow’s feet can all be softened. When used superficially, wrinkle relaxants also shrink pores and decrease oil production.
In our hands, even facial asymmetries can be improved using muscle relaxant injections.
Neuromodulator treatments are now the most common minimally invasive aesthetic treatments performed in the world. These medications include Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport™. Jeuveau®, Xeomin and DAXXIFY®.
The differences between Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau and Daxxify
All injectable wrinkle relaxants contain a type of botulinum toxin and differ slightly in their formulation. Each has different proteins or a peptide to stabilize them, producing differences in their onset and duration of results.

Botox® Cosmetic was the first aesthetic neuromodulator approved by the FDA in 1989. It has also been used safely for a variety of medical conditions including migraine headaches and muscle spasticity for many years. The clinicians at Skinspirations have performed over 21,000 Botox® treatments and trained many of the providers in Tampa Bay.
Results from Botox usually become visible within 3 – 10 days and last an average of about three to four months.

Dysport™ is a neuromodulator that has been FDA-approved since 2009 and is considered so safe that it’s approved for spasticity in children. The effects of Dysport usually become evident within 2 – 5 days and results last an average of about three to four months.

Jeuveau is another neuromodulator that usually produces results within 2 – 3 days and results last an average of three to five months.

DAXXIFY® is the newest and longest-acting wrinkle relaxer that became available in 2023. Skinspirations was one of the few select practices chosen to offer DAXXIFY® before its general release later that year. The results of Daxxify® last an average of about six months for many patients. Improvement with Daxxify® is seen within 1 – 2 days vs 3 -10 days with other relaxants.
Daxxify® is the only neuromodulator manufactured in the USA and the only one free of any animal-based components. About 50% more units of Daxxify are needed than Botox and
MicroTox
(also known as MesoTox)
MicroTox is a technique in which multiple tiny doses of Botox, Dysport, or Jeuveau are placed just below the surface of the skin rather than into the belly of the muscles. This technique can produce a lifting and firming effect on the skin, and decreases pore size, fine lines, redness, and oil production. It can also be done on the neck to produce a lifted, more defined profile.
The treatment uses tiny needles, smaller than a human hair, to deliver the neuromodulator solution to the level of the sweat and oil glands just below the skin’s surface. Although there are commercial products with multiple needles like the Aquagold device, at Skinspirations we prefer a more precise technique for injecting the exact doses desired to get the best results.
The duration of results for Microbotox is usually about three to four months and depending on the size of the areas treated, the dose used varies between twenty to eighty units of Botox or Jeuveau (corresponding to roughly fifty to two hundred units of Dysport).
